CBD not Working? 6 Common Reasons Why

We’ve heard the success stories from people who have tried CBD and experienced significant results, but what about the handful of people who haven’t been satisfied?

While it’s true CBD may not work for everyone, some common mistakes can result in poor outcomes. This can lead to a false belief that CBD has no real benefit to your health.

If you’ve tried CBD and wondered why it didn’t work for you, chances are there may be a simple fix.

Reason #1
You’re not getting your products from a reliable source

Knowing the source of your CBD products is one of the most important factors in your success. Many new suppliers have entered the market over the years, leading to an increase in low-quality products. It’s no surprise that many products have misleading labels and contain harmful ingredients and toxins.

Picking up a bottle of CBD at the local gas station or online marketplace isn’t exactly a great idea. It’s easy to get pulled in by eye-catching packaging. Unfortunately, we can’t always count on labels to tell us what we need to know about these products.

With little regulation from the FDA, it’s not uncommon to find products that contain far less CBD than the label suggests, or maybe none at all!

Trustworthy brands go the extra mile to test their products through third-party labs to ensure the highest standards. If you want to be sure you’re taking a high-quality product, look for a certificate of analysis (COA) showing third-party lab testing has been done. Your research will pay off.

You can find COA’s for every single product we manufacture here

Reason #2
You may not be using the right method of delivery

CBD can be taken in several ways. Sublingual tinctures, topical creams, oral capsules, edibles, and vapors are all very common. While variety is nice, the way you take your CBD can have a major impact on your results.

Oral tinctures allow for precise and consistent dosing, with effects lasting for several hours before being metabolized. Oral capsules are also a great option for consistent dosing, assuming your product is coming from a quality source. Each method has a different level of bioavailability, meaning how much and the time it takes to enter the bloodstream will vary.
The best method of delivery for you will depend on your goals. If you’re struggling with exercise-induced pain and inflammation, taking both an oral tincture and a topical pain cream may work best for you.

It’s trial and error here. What works for one person may not work for the next. If you’re not seeing the results you hoped for after a month of consistency, try experimenting with other delivery methods.

Reason #3
You haven’t given it enough time to work

As we’ve said, the time it takes CBD to work in the body depends on several factors:

- The way you consume the product
- The quality of the product
- Your own body’s metabolism

For instance, a person who is using an oral tincture every morning will see different results than a person who is occasionally applying a topical product. You’ll reach maximum benefit when you stick to a consistent regimen for a month or longer.

If a month has passed and you’re still not seeing the difference, consider taking a closer look at your dosing and method of delivery. Remember, our bodies are unique and long-term benefits come with time.

Reason #4
You may not be taking the right CBD dose

Start low and go slow!

Dosing largely depends on the type of product you’re using and your goals, but it’s important to start low and gradually increase from there.

Someone who’s taking a full spectrum product may see benefits more quickly or with a lower dose than with an isolate or broad-spectrum product. This is because full spectrum products contain the beneficial compounds of the entire cannabis plant. Together, these compounds work to create the entourage effect.

In the end, your body is the best indication of proper dosing. Slowly increasing your dose until you have reached your desired results is a great way to learn what works for you.

Reason #5
You haven’t created a CBD Routine

Routines have a positive effect on our health and are known to lower stress levels and improve sleep quality. Incorporating CBD into a routine allows for the benefit of consistency, which increases the positive effects CBD has on your body.

Your routine doesn’t have to be strict. It can be as simple as waking each morning and taking an energizing CBD tincture, followed by a tincture for focus around the time of your afternoon slump. End your day with a relaxing tincture to promote rest, like our Kava Kava Valerian

Reason #6
Your expectations don’t align with your lifestyle

Lifestyle choices have a tremendous impact on how CBD works throughout your body. Its primary purpose is to support and maintain balance within the body’s systems, allowing the entire body to work together in synchrony.

Combining CBD with unhealthy lifestyle choices is like following a strict exercise routine with no diet strategy. While you may see results, they probably won’t be as exciting as you hoped for.

The goal is to help support and achieve whole-body wellness, which is best met when we are actively aware of the choices we make and how they affect our body.
