General questions
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid and one of the major compounds found in the hemp plant! To learn more, visit our blog article here.
Actually, they both live in the cannabis family but are vastly different from one another! Although they look similar, they are divergent and have varying uses. A cannabis plant that contains more than 0.3% THC at harvest is automatically classified as marijuana. Anything under 0.3% is called hemp (that’s what we use!). Marijuana produces little to no CBD with high amounts of THC. Hemp used for CBD products is bred to contain low amounts of THC and high amounts of CBD - the therapeutic compound that we at Pachamama love!

Cannabinoids are the incredulous compounds that are synthesized by the hemp plant! Our bodies also produce cannabinoids which are called endogenous cannabinoids. Endogenous means they come from inside of us. Plants contain exogenous cannabinoids. Exogenous means they come from outside of us, like from our CBD products!
YES! Our CBD products always contain < 0.3% THC. Therefore, it is federally legal for us to ship and for you to consume our products nationwide without worry.
CBD works in the body through its interaction with the endocannabinoid system, or ECS for short. The endocannabinoid system is a built-in system that works to promote homeostasis or a 'whole-body balance'. To learn more about the actions of your body's endocannabinoid system, check out our blog post on it here!
The way that CBD is metabolized by your body can interfere with how your body normally metabolizes other drugs you take. This may be most prevalent in people using blood thinners like Warfarin However, drug interactions aren’t always negative. Sometimes they can be beneficial for consumers by making certain drugs more effective, like Clobazam. In this case, the consumer will require less use of the drug and therefore less adverse effects from it.
THC and CBD are metabolized by CYP3A4 and CYP2C9.
CYP3A4 inhibitors slightly increase THC levels.
CYP3A4 inducers slightly decrease THC and CBD levels.
(Yamaori et al 2012, Watanabe et al 2007).
CBD, but not THC, is metabolized by CYP2C19
CBD is a potent inhibitor of CYP3A5 and CYP2D6.
As CYP3A4 metabolized about a quarter of all drugs, CBD may increase serum concentrations of macrolides, calcium channel blockers, benzodiazepines, cyclosporine, sildenafil (and other PDE5 inhibitors), antihistamines, haloperidol, antiretrovirals, and some statins (atorvastatin and simvastatin, but not pravastatin or rosuvastatin).
CYP2D5 metabolized many antidepressants, so CBD may increase serum concentrations of SSRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, and antipsychotics, beta-blockers and opioids (including codeine and oxycodone).
Warfarin - THC, and CBD increase warfarin levels
Clobazam - In children treated with CBD for epilepsy, CBD increased clobazam levels.
Most drug tests measure your level of THC, as that’s the psychoactive compound found in cannabis.
Our full spectrum products are produced with hemp, which by law, must not exceed 0.3% THC at harvest. So although the risk of detection is low in our full spectrum products, Pachamama cannot guarantee that THC will be completely absent in a drug test. It is always a good idea to contact your local testing lab to gain a better understanding of their testing standards.
In our CBD isolate products and our broad-spectrum products, there is no trace of THC present ever. We conduct thorough lab testing on those products to ensure purity and peace of mind.
Absolutely not! The safety of our products is never tested on animals. However, it is pet-friendly!
The CBD molecule does not produce any psychoactive effects because it is so low in THC, the “high” molecule. The only euphoria you might feel would come from the harmonizing properties of our products. At most, you may just feel a relaxed clarity.
To date, there have been no adverse side effects discovered. According to a report from the World Health Organization, “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential [meaning] there is no evidence of health-related problems associated.”
Our topical products are quickly absorbed by the skin allowing for CBD to enter the bloodstream within minutes of application. Infused with aromatic plant extractions, our athletic rub and cooling ointment are crafted to be targeted formula. A little goes a long way but feel free to use as needed.

The delicate extraction method that we use for our tinctures preserves natural earthy flavors of the hemp plant. Flavor profiles vary slightly by tincture due to the diverse assortment of herbal extracts that we have incorporated. For instance, you may notice hints of rich chocolate from the cacao in our Goji Cacao.
We utilize an industry-leading extraction method. Our products are crafted without solvents in a high grade, certified, Colorado lab using only purified and heated air. After extraction, our products are triple-tested in a third-party lab. We repeat that rigorous process with every batch to ensure the most accurate results in every single bottle.

Although the Pachamama team loves to be out in Mother Nature, it is best to preserve the freshness of our products inside a cool, dark place away from sunlight. This is especially important when it comes to storing our topical products. For example, the melting point of shea butter, an ingredient that we use in our Athletic Rub, is a minimum of only 90 degrees. This is definitely not a product you would want to forget in your car on a hot summer day!

That's why we want to talk about California's Proposition 65.
Recently, THC and a terpene, beta-myrcene (both of which can be found in trace amounts in our full spectrum products) were added to California's running list of potentially harmful substances. This list is updated once a year and contains approximately 900 chemicals as of December 2020. It should be noted, both THC and terpenes are naturally produced by the hemp plant.
Although the trace amounts of THC and beta-myrcene in our products are naturally occuring, since hemp products are not classified as a food under federal or California law, we are required to add a the Proposition 65 logo to all of our products sold in the state of California.
Learn more about California's Proposition 65 list by following the link below.

What exactly is beta-myrcene?
Beta-myrcene is classified as a terpene, which is a group of compounds produced by plants, giving plants their varying textures and aromas. The hemp plant produces a myriad of terpenes and most of which have been heavily researched for their promising therapeutic potential. Beta-myrcene specifically has been studying for its synergistic relationship with THC to provide sleep support.

Absolutely not! Our gummies are made with pectin in place of gelatin. Pectin is a water-soluble fiber derived from non-animal byproducts.
You can certainly take two gummies as a serving size. However, we don't recommend exceeding two gummies. In addition, we always recommend starting low and slow if you're new cannabinoid products. Every body is unique and you might just be surprised by how much punch a small serving can pack!
Our gummies shouldn't make you feel groggy if you're sticking to the recommended serving size. However, because everybody is unique, you may be more receptive to the ingredients in the formula. If you typically wake up feeling groggy after using your typical sleeping supplements, we recommend trying half a gummy to start out. Feel free to experiment with serving sizes to find what's best for you, but remember, we don't recommend exceeding 2 gummies per night!
Typically, no. However, because every human's genome is completely unique, it's tough to say if the amount of melatonin in our gummies will provide you with unwanted side effects. If you're feeling wary of taking the chance, we recommend grabbing a sample pack of our Sleep Well gummies and talking just half of a gummy per night. Then see how you feel after the first night or two! You'll never know until you try. And if you do try, please do let us know how your experience is! Whether it's good or not-so-good, we love our customer's feedback and want to help in any way that we can.
